Sherwin Williams Rhinestone
Today I wanted to share about a very pretty, pale gray (almost white) color that we used in the colonial with great success.
In our kitchen, living room, half bath, and mudroom we used Sherwin Williams Rhinestone. It’s a soft gray, light and bright.
In fact, Rhinestone has a very slight blue undertone, which works for the clean, fresh feel I wanted for those spaces. It’s not a pure white, more of the softest possible gray.
In some lights it reads a little gray, in others a little blue, and many times it looks like a solid white! It’s so fresh and clean.
I loved how it felt in different rooms of our home. In fact, it looked more white in our bathroom, but slightly more gray in our kitchen because we used a pure white paint for the cabinets there.
In our living room, it felt like more of a silvery gray. In the image below, you can see the slight contrast between trim and walls!

- Feels fresh and clean and often reads as a white, depending on lighting and trim.
- A great neutral for anyone wanting a white+gray combo.
- Looks great in West or East facing rooms especially – tends to read a little blue (and colder) in North and South lighting.

We are finishing the attic area of our 1926 bungalow into a master bedroom suite with a front sitting room. I am using white 1” hexagonal tile on the bathroom floor with cobalt blue inserts for a center flower vintage feel. Shower will be 2” x 8” white subway tile. Our tub, sink and toilet are white with brushed nickel faucets. I would like to paint the entire space one color and am looking for a white with blue undertones. There are 2 windows in the bathroom, 2 in the sitting room and 2 in the bedroom. The lighting, at different times of the day, will come from everywhere (as the sun goes around the house, starting, in the morning, from the east.) but the west. I am a bit intrigued by this rhinestone paint color. I would like more of a smidge of a blue tone with bright being the main goal. Do you think it would be a good choice for this project? I realize this is a bit long and confusing but I’m very grateful for any suggestions you can send my way!!
Hi there!
I think Rhinestone sounds like it could be a great fit for you. If you want a brighter white with a touch of blue to it, consider Chantilly Lace or Decorator’s White.
My best advice is to grab some paint samples and try them with your lighting and flooring.

Just purchased a new brand new home about half way through the building process. Looking at Rhinestone for the open kitchen-eating area-living area. Cabinets are Icy Avalanche (lt grey) and island is a stained “Colt”. Will Rhinestone work? This side of the house faces west. Also, what is the name/color of the countertop?

Have red oak floors and a wall of floor to ceiling oak cabinets. 7 1/2 ft high walls, ceiling SW ceiling white. Want to paint this room and rest of house Rhinstone. Walls and all trim same color. Walls in satin/eggshell, tim semi gloss.
