Remember the recipes of your childhood? The ones that you looked forward to sharing at church, neighborhood parties, holidays and family gatherings? Those recipes are the ones that speak to me- the wholesome, delicious joy of homemade, simple food. If it evokes a feeling of warmth, love and togetherness, that recipe is a keeper!
My family favorites were influenced by years on my grandmother’s Missouri farm, and my childhood in St. Louis where a robust Italian influence shaped my love of pasta in all forms. Homemade pasta is one of my true loves in life, and I truly enjoy sharing that joy with my readers!
Perhaps even worse for my waistline (and yours!) is my never-ending passion for sweets. Homemade ice cream, cookies, pies and more… if it’s a vintage-inspired treat connected to a childhood memory, even better! Pound cakes, cookie cakes and endless inspiration for seasonal bakery-inspired cookies abound here.
Of course, too many desserts (are there ever too many desserts?) means that there’s also an abundance of lightened-up recipes. Salads, skinny cocktails, lighter desserts and beyond, because life is all about balance.
Above all, for our family, the love of cooking and baking together is oftentimes as important as the food itself. Memories, warm and cozy and times together, are made in the kitchen!
