Step inside our holiday home, at night, for a tour of this year’s traditional Christmas decorations. Twinkling lights and small touches make an incredible impact in our home and we couldn’t love them more!

There’s something about the magic and glow of Christmas lights that bring the joy of the season to life. I’m so excited to share our home with you and I hope it inspires you for your own holiday celebrations with loved ones!

The lights are twinkling, the fragrance of fresh Christmas greenery is in the air, and the fireplace is warming us through and through!

One of the best parts of Christmas for our family is the lights. We can’t get enough! We love the magical glow of Christmas both indoors and out. That’s what today’s little tour is all about… my attempt to capture the magic of our home at night.

I’m so grateful for the cozy, warm feeling of our home all aglow and I’m excited to share it with you today!

All Aglow

Nat King Cole captured the magic of Christmas when he sang those “tiny tots all aglow” lyrics, didn’t he? The excitement and warmth of this season truly lights up our home and the eyes of our little girls!

I don’t often take photos of either of our homes at night. As much as I enjoy taking and sharing photos with you, I find night time lighting situations to be difficult to capture.

With that said, I’m learning every day and I love sharing the small, special moments in our Christmas home with you.

Today I’m taking you on a tour of our home on a glowing, snowy evening. Grab a cup of homemade hot chocolate and come on in!

Candlelit Elegance

Beyond the twinkling Christmas lights that we include throughout our home, I love candles (both real and faux) for an added layer of warm glowing light.

This year, I placed our faux pillar candles in several places to see where we loved them the most! What do you think? On the entry table, the stairs, or our breakfast nook? Which is your favorite?

Warm and Cozy

As I have discussed in previous posts, I am a bit of a minimalist. However, that doesn’t mean that my home is stark or cold! Get my best tips for creating cozy minimalism right here.

Because I am not one for storing and keeping crates and bins full of decor from year to year, I love to decorate fresh. I love the warmth and fragrance of fresh greenery, and that’s what we incorporate each year!

In fact, you won’t see our Christmas tree in these photos because we just now got it up and decorated. Slow, simple living is the life for me… I wanted a fresh tree this year so we decided to wait a bit and enjoy it in a more realistic time frame!

Read all about my favorite cedar garlands and pine garlands, here. You’ll also find information about our popcorn garland and orange garlands we added for a charming, homespun touch.

Bedrooms Can Glow, Too

Often, bedrooms don’t get much decorating for Christmas because they are not the public rooms that everyone sees when they come to your house. However, our entire family loves falling asleep and waking to a little twinkling magic!

We added a pretty Faux Jasmine Garland this year along with some twinkling lights. We switched the artwork over the bed out for a wintry scene from one of my favorite free art sources that just feels so calming!

Candlelit Dining

Another area of our home that I love to add a little glowing magic is the dining space. Because the breakfast nook is the less formal dining space in our home, we tend to gather here for all our meals.

It’s easy to make this space feel special with fresh greenery and candles throughout the season. The view from here is beautiful, and we love to look out at the snow and the Christmas lights in the chilly evenings.

Kitchen Warmth

I find that our kitchen is the easiest room in our home to decorate. Every little touch feels simple and yet magical.

I love adding a garland over the window, and our Wooden Advent Calendar adds a meaningful, special touch this year.

  1. Julie — How beautful your home looks! Question: Can you please share where you purchased the beautiful white vase in the first picture (it is abundantly filled with magnolia leaves)? Looking for something this size and color!

    1. Hi Julie,
Thank you so much for your kind words! I got that vase from McGee & Co several years back, and I don’t think they have it anymore.
We did just curate a guide to Ginger Jars, and there are many linked that are a similar scale. I hope that helps!
      Happy Holidays,
      Julie

  2. So pretty! I love all the candles, and the twinkle lights in your kitchen are stunning! My boys and I have the same onesies! Merry Christmas to you and your family!

  3. I’m so jealous you already have snow! I was hoping for a white Christmas here! LOVE seeing your girls and your Lake House also all aglow!
