Tips

  • LRV – One of the best ways to choose a color is to consider the LRV. The higher the number on this scale, the lighter the color. Learn all about the importance of Light Reflectance Value in my comprehensive guide: What is LRV?
  • Paint Samples – Use them! As you try different shades, you’ll recognize a pattern in the colors that feel good. Check samples in various lighting and at different times of the day.
  • Other Design Elements – Consider other elements of your home. It’s important to consider roof color as well as elements like shutters, gutters (learn about our copper gutters here) and even landscaping.
