Last weekend we celebrated Adalyn & Aniston’s birthdays with our family by throwing a little party for them in our home. I didn’t intend on sharing this as a tutorial & didn’t have much time to photograph, but it was just looking too pretty! I decided to add it to my 5 minute flower series anyways! It’s so light & wispy for such a calm & quiet month, don’t you think? I think white is always right, but I especially love it in January. I added a hint of pink – for a perfect for Valentine’s Day table setting or any day in January table setting!

DIY Valentine's Day flowers

  • jasmine {I purchased a plant at Trader Joe’s}
  • 1 stem waxflower
  • scissors
  • candlesticks or votives

5 minute table runner tutorial:

  1. Starting at the base of your jasmine plant, snip sprigs, then gently pull them out & set aside {skip this step if you purchased fresh cut}.
  2. Arrange your candles – I chose to use two candlesticks.
  3. Taking your two longest sprigs, place them on opposite ends of the table with the stem facing the center of the table, to your desired length, working around your candlesticks in both directions.
  4. Fill in with sprigs of jasmine until you reach the center. Place a few smaller pieces facing outward, creating a circle & disguising your stems under one another.
  5. Take shorter snips of wax flower & place them strategically to add color, tucking the base of the stems under jasmine.

Note: this table setting lasts for 8-10 hours. Prepare it just an hour or two before your get together – but don’t worry, because it only takes a few minutes!

I can’t wait to host another party for Adalyn & her friends tomorrow that will be filled to the brim with effortless inspiration – because I haven’t even started yet! I better run…

Have a great weekend!
