Get all the details about one of my favorite cream paint colors, Benjamin Moore Soft Chamois.

I discovered Benjamin Moore Soft Chamois from one of my favorite designers, Phoebe Howard. I love how warm it feels, yet still very light, giving the illusion of space in our foyer bath and creating a relaxing retreat in areas like our master bedroom.
When we moved into our home, we had the entire upstairs painted Benjamin Moore Soft Chamois, and have never looked back! In fact, we loved it so much we repainted our foyer bath in it as well and I often contemplate repainting our dining room with it because it’s current color feels a bit too cool with its lighting situation.

This is one of the most versatile paint colors I’ve used to date. It’s a great fit for a lot of spaces and it’s so soft.
During the day it looks light and beautiful, and at night warm, but not yellow or dirty.
To help you decide which paint color is right for you, I’m breaking them down with pros and cons of each, where they’re best used, etc.

Would you recommend Soft Chamois in an East or West facing bedroom? I have one wall with board and batten that goes up 3/4. What paint color would complement Soft Chamois?
Hi Jan,
This is one of my favorite paint colors and it’s beautiful in almost any space. However, in dim lighting it can show more yellow (and even green) undertones, so keep that in mind.
I love to use this color with just a sheen variation – a trim paint in the same color, but in a semi-gloss sheen, for example. You can also pair it with a more traditionally bright white paint as an accent color, if you’d like to see more contrast.
Enjoy,
Julie
Hi there! Just saw your video and I’m making a break for it and going for a warm white! The issue is all my trim was painted BM linen white. I love it but my problem is which white pairs with it for my walls??? Can you help me, please?
Thanks ~ Nancy
Hi Nancy,
I cannot give specific paint consultations at this time! However, you might find my guide to paint samples helpful! My best advice is to buy some paint samples and test the colors next to your ceiling paint, trim paint and throughout the day in different lighting situations. Check out my guide to paint samples here!
Good luck, and have a beautiful week!

Help! I’m trying to get the soft chamois but Ace is telling me they have different bases for it? Which base is the best for the warm color you have in your pics? I know I want this color but didn’t know I had to figure out what base to use?!
Or can you tell me where you purchased this paint? Lowes and home Depot don’t carry benjamin moore (although I know they can mix it but I tried that and it came out really grey).
I highly recommend sourcing from Benjamin Moore
My home is a contemporary. I stained the floors dark brown (Jacobean). My main living room has a modern creamy couch, a cream baby grand piano and a cream leather
console. All pieces skew towards a creamy yellow. Other pieces in the room are a dark brown leather ottoman with gold nail heads sitting on top of a dark brown cow hide. I want to repaint the color currently on the walls which even more of a yellow cream tone. I love a more monochromatic look & the contrast of the dark floors. I’m having a difficult time picking a new lighter cream color because I don’t want he furniture pieces to look more yellow. I need a cream white color that will neutralize them and not make them look more yellow. You seem to know your Creams- what would you suggest?
Thanks!!! I’m really stuck!
Hi Cathy,
Unfortunately, I am not able to help with specific paint questions and consultations at this time! However, you might find my guide to paint samples helpful! My best advice is to buy some paint samples and test the colors next to your ceiling paint, trim paint and cabinetry, and study it throughout the day in different lighting situations. Thank you for introducing me to your color. It is exactly what I was looking for. I’d like to use it in a traditional dining room they comes with original picture frame molding and wainscoting.
Which white would you recommend for wainscoting to sure the contrast but still stay within the warm range
