For Decorating
I confess, for these images I used a store bought container of chocolate frosting! I know, I know. Here’s the thing though – you can make these brownies as simple as you’d like, or go the extra step and make everything from scratch.
They’re delicious either way.
- Chocolate Frosting
- Pretzels – I used the traditional rounds, broken in half for antlers. You can also use stick shaped pretzels and create an antler shape on your own!
- Red m&ms – for noses
- Edible eyes – I found mine here, but you can buy them at most craft stores.
Tools to Use
- Half Sheet Pan (18″ x 13″ x 1″)
- Mixer (You can also mix by hand)
- Microwave Safe Mixing Bowl
- Liquid Measuring Cups
- Measuring Cups + Measuring Spoons
How to Make
- Prep – Preheat oven and grease pan.
- Combine Wet Ingredients – Beat oil, sugar and vanilla, add eggs.
- Combine Dry Ingredients – In a small bowl, combine flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt.
- Combine – Gradually add into your mixture and blend well.
- Bake – As directed, until toothpick placed in the center of pan comes out clean.
- Decorate – As you wish! Serve and enjoy.
How to Decorate
- Slather that chocolate frosting on thick! I like the swirly, slightly messy look. This isn’t about perfection, it’s about fun!
- Next, add your pretzels in pairs all over the sheet of brownies. These can go any which way and however the kids (or you) see fit! I just found that it was easiest to add pretzel antlers first, and then I added the eyes and noses.
- Get creative here! Use fun Christmas sprinkles, powdered sugar to look like snow, or chocolate dipped pretzels for an extra dose of holiday joy!
Tips
- Did you know? Slicing your brownies with a plastic knife is the ultimate trick. I don’t know why it works, but it does!
- You can cut this recipe in half and use a smaller pan, but your baking time will change. Use the toothpick trick to ensure they’re done.
- Struggling with doubling? Check out my free printable measurement conversion chart. You can also use the easy 1x2x3x tab right inside the printable recipe card – no math required!
Serving Suggestions
These brownies can stand on their own, but they are also delicious with a little ice cream or whipped topping!
How to Store
- Room Temperature – Layer cut brownies with parchment paper (it prevents sticking) in an airtight container. Brownies keep for 3-4 days.
- Refrigerator – Store these Christmas brownies in the fridge for up to a week in an airtight container.
- Freezer – You can also freeze these brownies. Store as a full block or individually, wrapping tightly in plastic wrap, so they can be stored for up to 4-6 months.

I’ve made two batches of the peanut clusters. Since my daughter only eats dark chocolate, I made a special container of them for her. Delicious, easy and quick. Just what I like! 🙂 Thanks for the recipe!
Now for the peppermint bark!
Thank you! They truly are. Hope you enjoy the bark just as much!
