Over the holiday weekend, we traveled just north of Kansas City to beautiful Weston, Missouri to enjoy apple picking and gorgeous weather!  Below is a photograph of Adalyn indulging in her pick!
easy apple crisp recipe
What to do with this bountiful bucket of apples?  Make mom’s apple crisp!  My mother and grandmother were known for their pies, crisps and cobblers, so there were plenty of recipes to choose from.  This one happens to be my sister’s favorite.  {Note: I made a petite crisp since only Chris and I will be partaking in this dessert}.
6 cups apples sliced thin
1/3 cup sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp salt
2 Tbsp butter, melted
3/4 c sugar
1/2 c flour
1/3 cup butter, softened
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.  Combine first set of ingredients and pour into a greased 8″ pan/baking dish.   In a mixing bowl, stir second set of ingredients until crumbly.  Our over apple mixture and bake for 45 minutes.  Serve warm and enjoy!
