If you love store-bought Boursin cheese, you will fall head over heels in love with this homemade Boursin cheese recipe.

It’s quick, easy, fresh and flavorful! One bite and you’ll never buy it again! It’s gluten free, low carb, keto friendly, and just plain good!

Use it in your grilled cheese, add onto any grilling recipe, smoked salmon, bagels, veggies, toss it with pasta or even fruit like peaches – and it will take it over the top!

Whip it up and it makes an amazing appetizer. I love serving cheese spread at parties because it works for guests with dietary restrictions – this herbed cream cheese is gluten free and can also work with low carb and Keto diets.

Pre-packaged Boursin is great, but you’ll find it’s just as easy to make it at home and significantly less expensive.  The store-bought version can be slightly crumbly, while the homemade version adds to that creaminess factor you’ll love. Not to mention that it doesn’t have any preservatives!

You might even have everything you need to make it right now! Let’s get started.

5 STAR REVIEW

“Delicious and easy! This was a HUGE hit at a party we hosted. I had hoped for some leftovers to snack on after everyone had left. Ha! The bowl was scraped clean before the party was even over!”

Ingredients and Substitutions

  • Cream Cheese – This gives it the creamy factory that makes it easy to spread, yet moldable as a cheese ball. Bring it to room temperature so that it blends easily. While Boursin is officially made with Gournay cheese, cream cheese is almost identical and easily accessible. It also has a higher moisture content so it creates and even creamier cheese spread! • Butter – This gives homemade Boursin cheese that melt in your mouth quality.
  • Garlic – Fresh garlic cloves, minced garlic or powdered garlic. Your choice! Use whatever you have on hand. If using fresh garlic cloves, mince fine.
  • Grated Parmesan – Fresh is always best, but pre-grated parmesan works as well. You likely won’t notice the difference in this recipe.
  • Herbs – Garlic, herbs and spices (traditionally dried) make this recipe easy to mix up on a whim. A blend of dill weed, marjoram, basil, chives, black pepper, thyme, and parsley are the perfect combination.

Tips

  • Herb Mixture – Traditional Boursin cheese includes just chives and parsley, but this blend takes it up a notch. Of course you can substitute with fresh herbs if you prefer.
  • To do so, just multiply all the dried herb measurements by three, as it will require more fresh than dry. The fresh herbs should be finely minced.
  • Mixing By Hand – Use whipped cream cheese. It is a significantly easier shortcut if you don’t have access to a mixer or food processor.
  • Marinate – Allow Boursin to marinate in the refrigerator for at least four hours for the best results.
  • Gift – Make it a beautiful holiday gift by putting your herb cream cheese into a Weck jar.
