I discovered Benjamin Moore Soft Chamois from one of my favorite designers, Phoebe Howard. I love how warm it feels, yet still very light, giving the illusion of space in our foyer bath and creating a relaxing retreat in areas like our master bedroom.

When we moved into our home, we had the entire upstairs painted Benjamin Moore Soft Chamois, and have never looked back! In fact, we loved it so much we repainted our foyer bath in it as well and I often contemplate repainting our dining room with it because it’s current color feels a bit too cool with its lighting situation.

This is one of the most versatile paint colors I’ve used to date. It’s a great fit for a lot of spaces and it’s so soft.

During the day it looks light and beautiful, and at night warm, but not yellow or dirty.

To help you decide which paint color is right for you, I’m breaking them down with pros and cons of each, where they’re best used, etc.

  1. We are currently in the process of painting our nursery from a medium taupe to a lighter neutral. We started with a very white color, and then discovered our trim/doors looked almost yellow against it. They are a darker off-white than we thought.

We now are considering soft chamois. Do you think it would work well against a creamier trim?

  2. Hello. I’ve been on a search for that perfect white/off-white/cream color to perhaps go with Behr Swiss Coffee (maybe I need to change that as well). I’m about ready to give up no fear that color “perfect color” for me doesn’t not exist. Then I saw this on Pinterest and I thought that’s it!! Now, my question – I thought I read somewhere in this Pinterest page that Lowe’s could make it with their Valspar brand? Also, when I went on BM’s website they show TWO Soft Chamois’s – 969 and OC-13. Now I’m confused. Help! 😉

    1. Hi Teri!
I’m so sorry I’m just now seeing your question. As far as I know, there is only one Soft Chamois at Benjamin Moore, although it might be listed as part of several different color collections. And yes, oftentimes different paint brands can match colors, it’s always worth a try to ask.
I hope that’s helpful, and thanks for your comment!

  3. Hello!
I painted a large poster board with BM White Chamois and it looks like it has gray tones in it. It’s for my West-facing master bedroom. It’s a $9 paint sample can that they made for me at BM.
Is it supposed to have a gray tone?
    Thanks so much!

  4. Hi there! We are in the process for repainting our house. I’m very thankful for your blog. Soft Chamois looks beautiful. I’m wondering, our couch is west elms mineral gray. Does this color pair well with touches of gray? I eventually want leather couches, but cost wise that’s a long ways off. Thanks 🙏🏻

    1. Hi Alyssa!
Sorry I’m just now getting to your comment. Yes, I think you’ll be so pleased with Soft Chamois!
Thanks so much for reaching out and good luck with your paint project!
