There are few combinations I love better than peanut butter and chocolate. They go together like peanut butter & jelly, only better!

I can eat chocolate and peanut butter year round, but there’s something about fall that has me craving it even more! It’s a simple twist on my 5 minute brownie recipe that will make you wonder why you ever purchased a box mix!

Of course, made from staple ingredients, these peanut butter brownies are a great quick fix to any chocolate craving! Today is recipe #3 in fall baking week! I’m so excited for the next 2 and know you will be as well!

To Make These Chocolate Peanut Butter Brownies, You Will Need:

  • Vegetable oil and sugar
  • Vanilla: Pure is preferable over imitation.
  • Eggs: Free run / organic if you can.
  • Flour, unsweetened cocoa powder, salt
  • Peanut butter: Creamy and don’t use natural.
  • Powdered sugar: Also known as confectioners’ sugar
  • Heavy milk
  • Peanut butter cups

How to Make Chocolate Peanut Butter Brownies

It really couldn’t be any easier to make a batch of these delicious treats!

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease 8×8 pan. Beat oil, sugar and vanilla, beat in eggs. In a small bowl, combine flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt. Gradually add into your mixture and blend well. Bake 40 minutes.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine peanut butter & powdered sugar. Add heavy milk & whip. If needed, add an additional tablespoon at a time until a smooth consistency. Pipe or spread onto brownies {you’ll have plenty left over} & add crumbled Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups

Cooked brownie in a baking dish ready to be cut

These brownies are perfect as a mid afternoon treat, but they also make a great dessert when served with a homemade ice cream like No Churn Chocolate Chip Ice Cream or Cream Cheese Ice Cream.

These Brownies Are All About The Taste!

I rarely have icing bags – I refuse to wash them! I just add my peanut butter icing to a ziplock bag & snip a corner to “pipe” the ganache across the brownies. The only award I’m going for is best taste!

The crushed peanut butter cups cover any flaws. For pretty crumbles, freeze your peanut butter cups for 30+ minutes (is it horrible that I keep a pack in there for a rainy day?) and cut them.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Brownies Are A Sweet And Salty Treat

I’m not a fan of overly sweet dishes and these brownies really hit the spot. The peanut butter adds an amazing but subtle saltiness to the brownies that works so well with the chocolate. These brownies are perfectly cakey and gooey and they are always a hit.

How Long Do Brownies Keep?

I love serving these brownies fresh out of the oven, but they do also keep well. Let the brownies cool to room temperature and then place in an airtight container and they will keep for around 5 days.

These chocolate peanut butter brownies also freeze well. Don’t cut the brownies, but wrap the whole tin in plastic wrap and foil and they will be good for up to 3 months. Thaw them at room temperature.
