What To Serve With This Apple Tart Recipe

Chris loves anything covered in powdered sugar. You see how much our girls adore him. I decided to give him a little extra sugar with a dusting of powdered sugar.

What Are The Best Apples To Use?

The best apples for this tart, and baking in general, are ones that will hold the shape and structure and have a balance of sweet and tart. The best choices are Granny Smith, Jonagold, Honey Crisp, Braeburn or Pink Lady. all of these varieties will hold up well and make your tart stand out from the crowd!

Can You Freeze Apple Tart?

If you are organized and planning ahead, you can freeze this tart either before or after baking. It is often better to freeze the unbaked tart and then cook it from frozen, it’s texture and structure will be more like a freshly baked pie this way. To freeze the pie before baking wrap it in a double layer of foil. You can also keep an unbaked pie in the fridge for up to 2 days.

  1. I don’t give a hollering hootenany about “skinny” but my typical thanksgiving pie takes a couple hours and I have a 5 month old to mind so I am very glad I found this.

  2. So pretty and easy! I’m always looking for things to do with the apples I get when we go apple picking!

  3. Hi, I’ve always loved and admired fruit tarts. Thank you for such a wonderful recipe. I have not had good experiences with puff pastry (believe it or not). Should I use a few sheets or one of the rolls a it comes in the box? Thank you! Lisa H.

    1. Just one roll…I wonder if you get anxious to make dessert and don’t bring it to room temperature? It’s extremely tempting, but it truly does have to sit out 20 minutes before you roll it. Also, be careful that it doesn’t spend months in the freezer before you use it…I have found that that definitely makes a difference.

  4. 5 stars
I made this tonight for a dinner party and not only was it ridiculously easy but it was also ridiculously delicious! All the guests commented on how tasty it was so I was very happy 🙂 I made it in the morning and slightly underbaked it then put it back in the oven 10 mins before serving it at dinner to finish it off. I served mine with cornish vanilla icecream. Bellisimo!

    1. So glad you enjoyed it, Emma! That’s a great idea to finish baking just before serving, thanks for sharing!
