To celebrate our upcoming trip to Sonoma, or just another Friday night, we hosted a wine tasting party. We not only enjoy hosting friends, but it’s easier & less expensive than hiring a babysitter for the girls. We had them arrive just before the girls went to bed, offering a few bites, desserts & plenty of wine.

How to host a wine tasting:

  • Choose a wine theme. You can select to host a tasting according to region, variety, vintage {year} or price.
  • I recommend pouring no more than 6 wines. Any more, & you will no longer differentiate the flavors.
  • Conceal the wine labels {click here for the free printable wine tasting labels}.
  • Start from your sweetest white & work to your driest red. If you’re having one, follow it by a port.
  • Have your guests take notes, whether on the wine bottle or on these free printables.
  • Once the tasting is complete, everyone can indulge in their favorites!

I wish I had photos of the party to share that included my friends & I, but when I’m hosting, I like to relax & engage our guests & make the most of the little time we have to share together. Just 2 weeks until we return to Sonoma Valley…not that I’m counting down.
