How to Make a Beautiful Layered Cake of Any Size

For Adalyn and Aniston’s birthday, I wanted to give them each an individual cake, but I don’t own several cake pans of the same size and certainly didn’t want to spend the day in the kitchen.

Using your favorite cake mix {double or triple if needed}, pour into a greased 9×13″ pan and bake as usual and allow the cake to cool. Using a cutout, like the one seen below purchased for just $2, cut out the number of desired layers. Carefully remove each layer using a spatula.
Stack your layers, shaving them or balancing them to create a flat cake. As you can see here, each had a taller and shorter side, but they balanced.

Generously ice your cake! I use this method to create larger, tall birthday cakes too when I don’t have enough of the appropriate pan sizes.
