Fruit Pizza Icing Ingredients

  • Cream Cheese – Be sure to soften your cream cheese before you use it. This will help it to combine more easily with the other ingredients for a wonderfully smooth icing.
  • Sugar – powdered sugar
  • Vanilla – Pure vanilla extract has a much better flavor than imitation, so buy that if you can. It’s also really easy to make your own batch of vanilla extract.

Variations

I love the subtle flavor of vanilla in this frosting. It’s not overpowering, but light and fragrant and it works so well with whatever fruit you choose to top your pizza with.

If you like a tangier icing, you can easily substitute the vanilla for lemon, lime or orange juice if you like.

Tips

  • You can make this fruit pizza icing in a stand mixer or mix it by hand. Just make sure that all of the ingredients are well combined so you have a smooth icing.
  • This icing is best when you use a full fat cream cheese, but you can substitute it with low fat if you prefer, it will still work well.
  • Use a block of cream cheese not a cream cheese spread. Spread contains too much liquid and can result in a runny icing.

Make it Ahead

When I make this icing, I often make a big batch as it has a fairly long shelf life. Once you have made it, transfer it to an air tight container or a bowl covered with plastic wrap and it will keep for up to three days.
