Ah, the sweet taste of a new year, filled with endless possibilities and optimism. You don’t need a new year for a fresh start, but there’s something about the change of date that seems to awaken and inspire.

So, I’m ringing in the new year with something sweet – sugared champagne grapes. They’re a sweet surprise, which is what I’m the year ahead will be. You can see just how easy they are to make by watching the video in this post!

You may remember my wine marinated grapes, well, I did a little testing and it works deliciously well with champagne, too!

They’re the perfect treat to celebrate New Year’s Eve, an afternoon at the pool, and celebratory events like wedding and baby showers. You can serve them frozen or chilled… but either way, you have to try them and let me know what you think.

Prosecco Grape Ingredients

These sugared champagne greats are as delicious as they are beautiful! Now you can have your champagne and eat it, too!

  • Fresh grapes
  • Granulated Sugar
  • Prosecco or any Champagne

Variations

  • Use a different fruit. This process works well with fresh strawberries, raspberries and blackberries too.
  • If you prefer, you can substitute champagne and Prosecco. Not sure which to choose? You can learn the difference between the two here.

How to Make Sugared Champagne Grapes

  1. Wash grapes thoroughly.
  2. Place grapes in a freezer friendly bowl and cover with champagne.
  3. Allow to marinate refrigerated for 12+ hours.
  4. Drain grapes.
  5. Toss in sugar.
  6. Freeze 2+ hours.

How to Store

  • Room Temperature – You can leave these out for up to 24 hours but of course they won’t stay frozen for very long! They are good either way, though.
  • Refrigerator – You can store your refrigerated grapes before (and after) serving for up to 48 hours. This means a total of up to four days refrigerated.
  • Freezer – Store your Prosecco grapes in the freezer in an airtight container or ziploc bag for up to a month.

Ingredients
  

  • 3 cups green grapes removed from stems
  • 1 cups champagne
  • 3 tablespoons sugar

Instructions
 

  • Place grapes in a bowl and cover with champagne. Allow to marinate refrigerated for 12+ hours.
  • Drain grapes, toss in sugar and freeze 2 hours.

Notes

You can substitute champagne with moscato or prosecco if you prefer.
