Learn how to arrange small vases and candlesticks down the center of your table for a romantic look for simple entertaining.
A low centerpiece is so easy for guests to enjoy, and creates an intimate, charming look for everyone to admire!
I always adore big, beautiful centerpieces that take center stage, but when I’m hosting guests, I like them to take center stage.
A significant piece in the middle of the table blocks your view of each another and conversation becomes and awkward game of peek-a-boo. You may have noticed that I tend to lean toward low lying centerpieces.
Low lying centerpieces are not only great for conversation, but can also be very budget friendly. Smaller groupings of arrangements are often less expensive to make than one large centerpiece.
However, that doesn’t mean you can’t have a little height. I love using taper candles at varying heights to draw the eye up and fill the space.
For this simple fall centerpiece designed for our long breakfast room table I used two different sizes of my mom’s crystal goblets. Using the same container in varying sizes adds a little interest while keeping it cohesive. I kept the type of flowers consistent in each one.
Ingredients:
tape candles and holders
5 vases/glasses in various sizes
filler {eucalyptus and thistle are among my favorites}
flowers
fruit
How to make a centerpiece for a long table:
- Stagger candle holders down the center of the table.
- Using the largest “vase”, create an arrangement for the center of the table. A good rule of thumb is to use an odd number of buds, measuring each against the vase and trimming so the bloom hits just above it and removing any greenery that would hit below the vase. Add your filler behind the blooms.
- Repeat step 2 with your smaller vase, which will require fewer blooms. Place at one of the ends of the table, nestled between candles.
- Repeat, placing smaller vases at the end and larger working toward the center.
- To fill the table and make it memorable, add fruit or foraged finds.
Where did your mom get those lovely goblets? Thank you – love the decor idea so much!
Unfortunately I don’t know, but I love a family heirloom.
The balance of the smaller vases and the candle holders are perfect. Love the soft colors ???
Thank you, Maria!
