  • If you are trying to make the most of the good weather before winter hits, I’ve got some great outdoor fall party ideas for entertaining, including this pretty crostini bar that’s so easy to put together. I love fall entertaining, it’s a great way to enjoy the season’s produce and catch up with friends before the holiday’s hit.

Today’s post was brought to you compliments of La Crema. As always, all opinions, ideas, & photographs are my own. Thanks for supporting the brands that make this blog possible!

Use Seasonal Produce For Your Outdoor Fall Party

When we were looking to purchase our home, one of the best selling points was the proximity to a local market. At a previous home, in Prairie Village, Kansas, I would walk Adalyn to the market daily to purchase wine & groceries for that evening’s dinner. It was my grocery shopping, exercise & outdoor time all in one. I enjoy preparing fresh meals, & honestly, I can’t commit to what I’ll be in the mood for a week prior to making it. I don’t go quite as often now, but I enjoy walking the girls to the market to select fresh & local fruits & produce. I love how they label the farms that they source each item from.

Add A Personal Touch To Your Outdoor Party

As you know, Chris & I love visiting California wine country. We love learning about wine, including how it’s made, where the grapes come from & how the regions & vineyards can greatly affect the wine. I like to apply the same concept at the grocery store, labelling the area the wine is from & a few details about it. You can usually pull the information from the winery’s website easily. I’m not as familiar with whites, so I find menu descriptions very helpful when making my selection.

    Decorate Your Fall Table

It doesn’t have to cost lots of money to decorate your outdoor fall party table. I made card holders by using a knife and making a slit in a wine cork to hold the card & added a bloom & snip of rosemary to keep it from rolling. So easy to do, and those wine corks really help add to the fall theme of the table.

Don’t be afraid to mix & match glasses. Most don’t have a catering closet. Personally, I think it adds interest to a table to have a variety of glassware & it can make a gathering feel slightly relaxed.

I always enjoy when you can create your own food at dinner parties. I’m a picky eater & appreciate being able to select my favorite combinations, plus I think it’s fun!

For our fall crostini bar, we served the cheeses on a cake pedestal so that it doubled as a centerpiece! I just nestled in few Creative Candles between champagne grapes which draped over the edge.

The crostini bar is full of edible decor including herbs from the garden.

    • Blue cheese
    • Ricotta
    • Fig jam
    • Apricot jam

Outdoor Fall Party Ideas – The Decor

I pulled the antique desk from our kitchen {originally a kitchen table} & used an inexpensive cheese cloth for a last minute table cloth. This harvest table is perfect for fall entertaining.

I draped bulb lights from the trees for when the sun goes down & added some old grape vines a friend gave me truly rustic fall entertaining.

Top Tips For Your Outdoor Fall Party

    • Use local and seasonal produce for your crostini bar and serve your favorite wines.
    • Handwrite notes for that personal touch.
    • Decorations don’t need to be expensive – use flowers, wine corks and decorative items you already own.
    • Do think about a light source when the sun goes down – this could be light bulbs like I used or candles or solar lamps if you are not near a light source.
    • Take a pile of blankets out for sitting on or wrapping up in if it gets chilly.

Did you know you can participate in creation of wine through La Crema’s Virtual Vintner? As a wine lover, I’m obsessed. It’s an opportunity to learn about the wine & vote to determine what region it will come from, what type of barrels will be used & more!  Weigh in here to create a community wine. I learned that while I love reds, I’m a chardonnay! Who knew? You can also read more about the crostini bar here.
