Snowman Cheeseball Ingredients
- Funfetti Cake Mix – you can use any kind of cake mix here but funfetti is definitely the most fun! I was a bit too early for Christmas funfetti. Learn How to Heat Treat Flour (and cake mixes) for no bake recipes like this one- it’s an added safety option that is recommended by the FDA.
- Cream Cheese – get all my best tips for softening cream cheese FAST!
- Powdered Sugar – this creates that true sweet dessert dip flavor we’re looking for.
- Buttercream (you can use my recipe included in the printable recipe card below, but you’re welcome to buy store-bought icing to cover this cheeseball, too. I’ll never judge!)
- Extra Sprinkles – because honestly, can you ever have too many?
- An Orange M&M for the nose…you should probably eat the rest of the bag, no reason for it to go to waste!
- One Large Marshmallow – this is for his chocolate covered hat, which is totally optional as you can see in these images.
- One Oreo – also for his hat. You can eat the rest of the oreos, too. See what I’m getting at here? Waste not, want not!
- Chocolate Chips – I used both full size and miniature chocolate chips for the face and buttons of my snowman cheeseball. You can do whatever feels right for decoration!
- Red Licorice – a thin piece of licorice for his cute little red scarf. Again, feel free to get creative with the decorating, that’s what makes this so much fun!
Decorate Your Dessert Cheeseball
You can cover your snowman cheeseball in your favorite clear or white sprinkles for a snowy, sparkling effect. Sugar crystals offer great texture, a little sparkle and incredible taste but these also work well:
- nonpareils
- sugar crystals (sparkling sugar)
- jimmies
How to Make a Cheeseball
Are you ready? Let’s make this adorable snowman cheese ball recipe!
- In a mixing bowl or mixer, combine funfetti cake mix and cream cheese until smooth. Additional sprinkles optional.
- Refrigerate 30+ minutes.
- Divide the dough into two ball shapes, one can be a touch larger than the other for the base of the snowman. Using plastic wrap or wax paper form a large ball, smooth, place on a platter.
- Refrigerate.
- Spread icing onto cheeseball. Use wax paper to smooth.
- For best results, cover with sugar/sprinkles immediately after icing your cheeseball. Gently pat them on, tilt the platter to remove excess and repeat.
- Create chocolate hat by dipping a marshmallow and oreo into melted chocolate chips. Adhere to iced cheese ball (I just used an extra dot of icing here).
- Add your eyes, nose, mouth and buttons accordingly.
