A couple of years ago, I discovered Apple Fritter French Toast at one of my favorite brunch spots.  Sadly, they eliminated it from the menu!  When considering my Mother’s Day Brunch options this year, nothing else seemed to compare.  Well, you can imagine what happened next.  First up, the butter that replaces the need for any syrup!
1 stick of butter, softened
1 Tbsp Grand Marnier
1/4 c sugar
juice of one wedge of orange or for thicker butter, zest of half an orange
Combine and set aside.
Apple Fritter Bread {available at Target, Archer Farms} or unglazed apple fritters
2 eggs
1/2 c half and half
1 Tbsp vanilla
Combine eggs, half and half and vanilla.
Pour custard mixture into a 9×13 pan
Add your bread…
Allow to soak about 20 seconds and flip
Allow to soak about 20 seconds and cook in a non-stick pan on medium until golden brown and flip to brown the other side.
Time: 10 minutes
Yields: 10 slices/4 servings
No syrup needed!
Happy Mother’s Day!
