What Are Crinkle Cookies?

Crinkle cookies are a quintessential Christmas cookie! If you have a cookie exchange in your near future, these will be a hit for sure! Often they are made with chocolate, but I love the simplicity of these. They are perfectly soft, tender and chewy, everything you need from a cookie!

The Perfect Crinkle Cookies

My philosophy is that brown butter makes everything better. If you haven’t tried it, these brown butter Crinkle Cookies are the perfect excuse.

Brown butter gives cookies {and every other dish} a deeper flavor. Plus, it’s like potpourri for your kitchen. It fills it with the most beautiful nutty aroma as the butter browns.

I promise this step takes just a few minutes and is worth every second. Plus, you don’t have to soften the butter, and I rarely if ever plan ahead enough to allow it to soften on the countertop. Sold? Good.

To Store

Room Temperature – Let your baked cookies cool to room temperature and keep them in an airtight container at room temperature, they will be good for 2 to 3 days. Don’t refrigerate them or they will harden quickly. Lots of people swear by putting a slice of bread in with the cookies, and that keeps them softer for longer.

Tips

  • Let the browned butter cool before adding it to the other ingredients – so you don’t scramble the eggs!
  • Allow an hour to chill the dough.
  • Bake cookies in a pre-heated oven for best results.
  • Make a double batch!
