This Blue Cheese Dip Recipe is made with just 5 ingredients in less than 5 minutes. It’s seasonless and the perfect addition to holiday get-togethers, tailgates, game day and more! It pairs well with chips, veggies and chicken wings.

The best way to start any gathering is with dip, right? It’s one of my favorite starters because it seems to make everyone feel at home from the moment they walk in. This Blue Cheese Dip is FULL of flavor and always a crowd pleaser.
Seriously, it’s so simple. You just combine the ingredients and refrigerate until you’re ready to serve, making it great for a last minute summer get together, tailgating or Thanksgiving appetizer.
Don’t worry, your guests will never know that you didn’t put a lot of effort into this delicious dip. It will be our little secret. And if you love entertaining in the easiest way- don’t miss these delicious little cheddar cheese tarts!

It’s rich and creamy, perfect for pairing with chips, veggies or buffalo chicken wings and a great alternative to traditional vegetable dip.
Blue cheese infuses into a traditional creamy dip base. To top it off you get little chunks for added texture and a pop of flavor in every bite. This amazing dip will have your guests begging for the recipe!
Quality blue cheese makes all the difference. There are so many amazing varieties to choose from! Maytag, Stichelton, Stilton, Gorgonzola, Danish Blue, and Roquefort.
Start with a wedge or a block of blue cheese for the best flavor and texture. It is incredibly creamy when crumbled and doesn’t have added preservatives that dry it out.
Serve it chilled for a thicker dip or room temperature for a thinner dip. It’s completely up to you!

Blue Cheese Dip Ingredients

This quick and easy blue cheese dip recipe is made with just 5 ingredients.
- Sour Cream – Full-fat sour cream works best for a super creamy dip recipe, but you can lighten it up with light sour cream if you prefer.
- Mayonnaise – Olive oil mayonnaise is my go to.
- Blue Cheese – Use a good quality blue cheese from the cheese department in your grocery store since it’s the star of the show. Fresh versus pre-crumbled is best and will offer the creamiest texture and flavor. You can even use Stilton and Gorgonzola.
- Lemon Juice – Freshly squeezed lemon juice adds bright flavor. You can substitute with 100% real lemon juice if needed.
- Green Onion – Fresh scallions or spring onions add a burst of savory flavor and pop of color. Chives also work well and make a beautiful garnish.
Fresh cracked pepper at the very end adds a subtle hint of spice.

How to Make Blue Cheese Dip
- Combine – In a large bowl, combine the sour cream, mayonnaise, blue cheese, lemon juice, and green onion. Add fresh cracked pepper to taste.
- Refrigerate – Cover and refrigerate 4+ hours or until ready to serve. This allows all the flavors to marinate.

Serving Suggestions
- Chips – I love serving with sweet potato, beet, kettle chips or ruffle potato chips. A mix of the 3 is even better!
- Crackers
- Veggies – Carrots, celery, cauliflower, broccoli, bell peppers
- Chicken Wings
- Salad – It’s perfect for a wedge!
- In Wraps – Mix up a Chicken Wrap and add buffalo sauce

Tips
- Marinate – Allow the dip to marinate 4+ hours for the flavors to meld.
- To Serve – Blue Cheese Dip thickens when refrigerated but returns to normal, thinner consistency when brought to room temperature.
To Store
Refrigerate – Refrigerate in an airtight container up to 3 days.
