Prosecco sangria makes a great signature drink for brunches, parties and holidays. Easy to make with just four ingredients, this make ahead cocktail is sure to wow your guests!
As I have mentioned through the years, I’m a fan of signature cocktails. It’s an added decorative element and detail that is not only memorable, but tasty! It also allows guests to easily serve themselves so I can spend my time enjoying my time with them. They’re not only great for showers and brunches, but weddings and dinners as well.
Sangria is a great make ahead cocktail when you are planning on hosting and it’s especially great as a summer drink. Be sure to check out my white wine sangria and my classic Spanish sangria recipe. My Prosecco Sangria has flavors of peach and apricot, so it’s deliciously fruity and such an easy drinker.
Ingredients and Substitutions
- Brandy – Brandy is the traditional liquor used in sangria. You can use basic brandy, you don’t need anything expensive.
- Peach – The sliced fresh peaches release their sweetness into the sangria. Use the ripest peaches that give a little when you squeeze them for the best flavor. It’s best not to use frozen peaches in this cocktail. Frozen fruits contain a lot of water, and as they melt they will dilute the drink and weaken the flavors.
- Apricot nectar – Store bought apricot nectar adds wonderful flavor and sweetness.
- Prosecco – An Italian sparking white wine. Make sure your Prosecco is chilled before adding it to the other ingredients. Add the Prosecco just before serving so that it doesn’t lose it’s sparkle! You can also use any type champagne if you prefer.
How To Make Prosecco Sangria
- Combine – Mix together the brandy, peach and nectar in a large jug or bottle and let it infuse in the fridge for at least an hour.
- Serve – Pour in the Prosecco and serve.
Tips
- I like to use a dry Prosecco for this sangria, as you get a lot of sweetness from the fruits. You don’t need a super expensive bottle, a mid range store bought brand will work perfectly well in this recipe.
- The base for this prosecco sangria is best made at least an hour before serving to really let the flavors meld together. You can leave it covered in the fridge for up to 6 or 8 hours. It’s important not to add the Prosecco until just before serving.
- To serve the sangria, simply pour it into wine glasses over a large ice cube. I prefer to use large ice cubes so that they don’t melt quickly and dilute the drink. I like to spoon in a couple of the slices of the peach too as they look so pretty!
