My easy Champagne Buttercream Frosting adds a touch of elegance to any dessert. This fluffy topping with a touch of champagne can turn any cookie, cake, or cupcake into the perfect addition for a celebration.
Whether it’s for a birthday, bridal shower, New Year’s Eve, Valentine’s Day or a regular Tuesday, this frosting will elevate any sweet treat into something truly special.
This recipe starts with a simple American-style buttercream—unsalted butter and confectioner’s sugar—whipped into a light and velvety frosting before being flavored with vanilla and the champagne of your choice. For this particular recipe, I prefer a rose champagne and a little red food coloring to make it a pretty pink. But feel free to use your favorite bubbles and color it according to the occasion.
I also love how versatile champagne icing is—whether I’m topping a classic vanilla cake, a rich chocolate cupcake, or even sugar cookies, the delicate floral notes of champagne takes this creamy frosting to the next level.
Try topping my Pink Champagne Cupcakes with this simple frosting and use the rest of the open bottle of bubbles in my Champagne Margaritas.
Ingredients
- Unsalted Butter — Softened butter creates the rich, creamy base for the frosting.
- Powdered Sugar — Sweetens the frosting while giving it structure and smoothness.
- Champagne or Sparkling Wine — A dry Champagne works best, you can cook it down a bit before adding to intensify the flavor.
- Vanilla Extract — Adds warmth and enhances the overall flavor.
- Food Coloring (optional) — A drop of pale pink or gold can give the frosting a glamorous touch.
