Our Christmas Kitchen Decor. Did I really just say that? I cannot believe how the year has flown by. To be honest I’m not quite ready to decorate for Christmas yet. The trees are just now turning here in St. Louis and I’m enjoying beautiful fall colors in all their glory.
I can’t help but smile when I look out the window or see a leaf dancing joyfully to the ground as the sun shines a spotlight on it. I am more of an embrace the moment then plan for the future girl, so it’s a good thing I married a man to balance me and have friends to motivate me!
However, decorating for Christmas is my favorite and I am beyond excited to decorate our new kitchen! I dreamed of this moment for the last few years and it feels even better than I could have imagined. I’m also excited to be joining friends in doing so as part of our Seasons of Home series. Their grace and style is always inspiring and makes me feel right at home, I know it will make you feel the same when you visit.
One of the many things I love about our new cream kitchen is that it makes a beautiful backdrop for just about anything. A few simple touches and it’s transformed into a Christmas kitchen – decked for cooking, baking and sharing festive moments with family and friends.
Before I purchase anything to decorate for a season or holiday, I look to our yard. There are so many pretty seasonal finds in your own backyard, if you get lucky, you may even have some pretty berries! It’s pretty amazing, especially since we’re weeks away from fresh Christmas decor becoming available!
I added a mix of hypericum berries {which I find at the grocery store for $4/bunch} and branches to the hutch and created a centerpiece for the island.
Pitchers make an effortless vase for a sprawling arrangement.
A simple branch above the hood adds a lot of festive detail.
And a simple red stripe towel adds a classic touch.
I also love adding a little touch of “green” to my lanterns. Sometimes I’ll tie a bow around them, but I’m enjoying an understated approach for now. The hypericum berries are nestled into the wire to secure them and will dry to a beautiful dark red hue.
Absolutely beautiful! Would you mind sharing the source and style of the hanging lanterns?
Those were custom made, but you can find similar (used in our breakfast room) and all of our other lighting in my shop (just click โshopโ in the menu bar.) Enjoy!
Julie, I LOVE the calm and warmth of your kitchen and the elegant simplicity of your Christmas decorations! Can you please share your kitchen cabinet color? Thanks!!
Thank you, Kim! Itโs a color code since itโs a custom match, but you can find it by searching โcabinet colorโ on my site. Iโm out of town or would send the direct link. Enjoy!
Lovely! Could you share the source for your beadboard backsplash? We’re renovating our new home and it’s exactly what I would like to use in my kitchen.
Hi Janine – I wrote a post about it today. Let me know if you have any questions – happy to help!
Absolutely stunning I love the simplicity and soft whites, the stove is gorgeous! Thanks for sharing
Thank you, Eliane! Happy Holidays!
I love how beautifully intentional you have been with each thing in this space. The built-ins are incredible and that stove. LOVE.
Thank you, Jeanne! I wanted to live in the space a couple years to see how we’d use it before designing it. Hope you have a great weekend!
