Check out these tips for How to Set a Table for Fall.
I love any excuse to play with flowers, but I have a special place in my heart for wildflowers. My grandmother’s farm in Southeast Missouri was surrounded by beautiful wildflowers we’d bring in for fresh arrangements to disperse throughout her home.
As a young child, it was my first experience playing with flowers. With wildflowers, there’s no investment and no right or wrong way to arrange them, eliminating any pressure. That’s how I like to set a table, too. Without rules.
Wildflowers also symbolize the end of summer and onset of fall to me. The golden hues as they blow through the fields and effortless beauty of just being. For today’s fall table setting, I wanted to incorporate a little of that effortless fall style integrating kale and wildflowers {also available at select grocery stores}.
How to set a table for fall:
- Start with fabric. I love using inexpensive cheesecloth, a tablecloth, or table runner.
- Add your centerpiece. You can learn how to make this one here.
- Set the table to see how it will fill with plates, utensils, and glassware.
- Add candles or smaller vases of flowers to fill the table. I used 2 different size drink glasses adding flowers that are the in the centerpiece.
- Adjust as needed and add linen napkins and something at each place setting like a bloom, piece of fruit or a place card.
There are so many beautiful guides how to set a table, but personally, I prefer to keep it casual and thoughtful, considering what you’re serving.
