What Readers Have To Say

Really beautiful Julie. You have indeed created a calm and soothing space and I am really inspired by your work. Thank you so much for sharing. I always look forward to opening your emails! Following you as you transform that very heavy and dated house into a light and fresh, clean, organized home with such an airy happy vibe has been inspiring and fun. I’m looking forward to what’s to come!

Classic, peaceful, natural, and visually pleasing–that’s how I would describe your home! Your style is very calming
in this stressful, chaotic world. What a gift of a safe haven you are creating for your family. Thanks for sharing! You inspire me to do the same!

Julie – I am NOT a baker. In fact, I almost break out in hives when I think about it and I’ve had some real disasters. But these cookies have put me on the map!! When I read the recipe I felt like I could give it a try. Well, the cookies came out perfect and were so delicious. My family is still talking about them and I feel like I conquered the world. These will definitely become a holiday favorite.

Diana

These have to be the best sugar cookies I have ever had, let alone ever made. I have been baking more lately and I am still getting better and better. I must say I baked these to perfection, they definitely hit the spot. In addition, I added your fluffy cream cheese frosting recipie and added maple extract. That put it over the top! Great job with this recipie. Thank you for making me look like a pro with these cookies!

Frequently Asked Questions

How did you start julieblanner.com?

I started sharing photographs and details from weddings and events I planned, sprinkling in recipes and home decor projects we were working on.

How did you learn to cook and bake?

I spent a lot of time cooking and baking at my grandmother’s farm. I realized it’s really simple – a few simple, fresh ingredients can make the most memorable meals. While in college, I worked for a caterer, honing in on the skills I learned as a child. During my event planning career I catered small parties. Now, I cater to our family of 5 and love hosting friends.

What is your favorite food?

Do I have to choose? I could live on tacos and pasta!

Where are you from?

I was born in St. Louis, Missouri and returned (St. Louisans almost always do) after 17 years away. We also love spending time at our lake cottage nestled on Table Rock Lake in Southwest Missouri.
