Now that the interior of our home is almost complete, we are starting to focus on the exterior. The first step was the front door because it will also complete our entryway. I chose a 9 lite door because I wanted to restore the integrity of the home, bringing it back to what I thought the home would have had when it was built in the 60’s. The door I chose matches the door of the walk out basement and also will allow a lot of light in the foyer.
This addition to our home was a gift from Chris for our
5th {wood} anniversary. It replaced the door and storm door below {old entryway photo} which was really dark and limited the light.
I chose brushed nickel hardware to complete the cottage colonial look.
When we moved into our home, our mailbox was in the garage at the side of our home. Some mail carriers knew it, but some didn’t. We often went days without mail. I found an envelope mailbox at Pottery Barn that was a good fit along with some basic brushed nickel numbers to replace the large wood painted ones you see the remnants of to the left. Still to come, new light fixtures, paint and possibly siding.
This week I plan on adding a wreath a door mat…oh the never ending to do list!
I just replaced my lavender plants with mums for Fall. To see what other changes I’m making for Fall, click here.
I’m so happy with our new front door and can’t wait to complete the exterior! It was a labor of love, but well worth it {well, unless you ask Chris.}

Where did you get the chandelier in your entry way?
It’s original to the home, but you can find a lot of similar ones at Lowe’s online and Bellacor Lighting.
