This is the ultimate spicy margarita recipe that is the perfect sidekick to so many of your favorite Mexican-inspired dinners! This jalapeño margarita recipe has the perfect amount of spicy pepper flavor – just enough kick, but not too much.
Rim a glass with lime juice or simple syrup and salt.
Fill glasses with ice and slice or dice your jalapeños.
In a cocktail shaker (or pitcher) filled with ice, combine tequila, lime juice, orange juice and agave nectar along with sliced jalapeño. Give it a vigorous shake to really get that jalapeno flavor throughout!
Garnish with a lime wedge, or if you’re really brave, extra jalapeño slices!
Notes
Make it Less Spicy - Remove the membranes and seeds of the jalapeños to make it a bit less spicy. The membrane is the hottest part of the pepper. To remove it, cut the top off of the jalapeño, slice it in half longways and cut or scoop it out.
Get the Most Juice - To get the most juice out of your limes and oranges, roll them around on a counter with the palm of your hand before slicing in half to squeeze. After squeezing three times, press the back of a spoon to release the remaining juice.
Make a Pitcher
Add the following ingredients to a pitcher and stir vigorously (serves 8):
2 cups tequila
1½ cups fresh lime juice
¼ cup fresh squeezed orange juice
⅓ cup agave
2 jalapeños, sliced (average size is approximately 1 ounce per pepper)
Substitutions
Fresh Squeezed Lime Juice - Substitute 100% Real Lime Juice purchased in the produce section.
Orange Juice - Freshly squeeze or store bought. Sub the fresh orange juice with orange liqueur like Cointreau or Grand Marnier.
Agave Nectar - You can substitute with simple syrup or honey if you prefer.
Variations
Add 3 sprigs of cilantro for a refreshing flavor mix.
Sugar the Rim or use Tajin Seasoning instead of salt. Use pink Himalayan salt for a pretty touch of color.
