In a skillet over medium-high, add oil and allow to warm.
⅓ cup canola oil
Add chopped onion and salt. Sauté, stirring frequently for 10 minutes, until translucent and tender.
1 white onion, ⅛ teaspoon salt
In a large bowl, add sour cream and fold in onion.
