Christmas Brunch Recipes: Make this Crème Brûlée French Toast
Make this overnight French toast casserole for your Christmas brunch! It's got all the decadence of crème brûlée with the ease of a dish you throw together the night before.
1loaf bread Challah, French, or brioche, sliced 1½" thick
5large eggs
1½cupsheavy whipping creamuse half and half to lighten it up if you'd like
1tablespoonvanilla extract
1tablespoonGrand Marnier orange liqueursub with juice or a little orange extract
Instructions
In a small saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add brown sugar and corn syrup whisking until smooth. Pour mixture into a greased 9×13″ pan.

Place bread slices tightly in baking dish.

In a medium mixing bowl or stand mixer fitted with the whisk attachment, combine eggs, heavy whipping cream, vanilla and Grand Marnier. Pour evenly over bread.

Cover and refrigerate 6+ hours or overnight.
Preheat oven to 350° F. Bring baking dish to room temperature to avoid cracking. (around half an hour is usually plenty)
Bake uncovered 35 minutes. Flip to serve or broil for an extra 2-3 minutes for a crispier crust.
Notes
Marinate at least 6 hours to soak up all the custard.
