12ounceschocolate or candy melts(use white chocolate with a little red food coloring or use red candy melts)
Instructions
In a medium mixing bowl, whisk dry ingredients. Flour and salt, set aside.
In a separate mixing bowl or stand mixer, beat butter, sugars, applesauce and vanilla.
Gradually incorporate dry ingredients into wet mixture.
Fold in chocolate chips.
Using a cookie scoop, form balls and roll in the palm of your hands.
Refrigerate 30 minutes on a parchment lined cookie sheet.
For Coating
Melt chocolate in microwave on low heat until smooth. Add food coloring if red is desired.
Using a toothpick, insert into the center of your dough ball, dip into melted chocolate, swirl and place on parchment lined cookie sheet.
Refrigerate until set, about 20 minutes.
