Homemade Onion Rings

  • oil/shortening
  • 3 yellow onions
  • 1 c flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 c beer
  • 4 Tbsp butter melted
  • 1 tsp salt


  1. Heat oil in large pot over medium high heat.
  2. Slice onions into thick rings, set aside.
  3. In a bowl, add a cup of flour, set aside.
  4. In your mixer, whisk egg yolks {leaving whites in yet another bowl}, add beer, butter & salt.
  5. Remove & beat egg whites until stiff. Fold into beer batter mixture. Dip onions into flour, then mixture and fry evenly on each side until golden brown.
  6. Drain on paper towels & serve.
