Easy Banana Cream Pie

An Easy Banana Cream Pie recipe made from scratch is creamy and indulgent. With a few secrets, it'll become a homemade pie you'll make time and time again!

Ingredients

  • 1 pie crust baked
  • 3/4 c semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 c sugar
  • 1/4 c cornstarch
  • 4 egg yolks
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 c whole milk
  • 1 Tbsp vanilla
  • 4 Tbsp butter softened
  • 3 bananas (ripe) sliced
  • 3/4 c toffee
  • 1 1/2 c heavy cream
  • 1/2 c powdered sugar

Instructions

  • Melt chocolate chips in 15 second increments until smooth. Spread into the bottom of your pie crust and allow to cool.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine sugar, cornstarch, yolks and salt.
  • In a saucepan over medium heat, combine milk and vanilla, whisking for 3 minutes.
  • Gradually blend milk into your sugar mixture, careful not to curdle the egg.
  • Return mixture to saucepan and whisk continuously until thick (about 4 minutes).
  • Whisk in butter. Remove from heat and fold in banana. Pour into pie crust.
  • Top with toffee crumbles, saving a little to garnish.
  • In a large mixing bowl, beat heavy cream until stiff. Gradually blend in powdered sugar and top pie. Chill 2 hours.

Notes

Purchase bananas that are bright yellow, with light brown spots on the surface. Slice just before folding into the custard to prevent browning.
