Ingredients

  • 4 egg whites
  • 1/4 tsp cream of tartar
  • 1 c sugar
  • 1 c strawberries sliced
  • 1/4 c sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 275 degrees.
  2. Beat egg whites until foamy. Add cream of tartar.

  3. Continue beating for 6 minutes, gradually adding sugar until dissolved, glossy and stiff.
  4. Using a spatula {or two} spread in a heart shape on parchment paper.
  5. Bake 40 minutes, turn oven off, leaving it closed and leave it in there an additional hour and 15 minutes.
  6. Meanwhile, toss strawberries in sugar and allow to marinate in the refrigerator.
  7. Carefully remove mergingue from oven and place on a platter. Cover in strawberry mixture just before serving.
