  • How I feel so invigorated after my first week of Living Big by Living Small and am excited to share my recap with you!

This week, I made two simple suppers, resulting in less clean up and more family time! Grown Up Grilled Cheese one night and breakfast for dinner another. Last night we hosted family and friends for dinner and instead of cleaning up immediately, I waited until we put the girls to bed. It made cleanup faster and less stressful and we were able to enjoy an hour of beautiful weather visiting on our front porch while watching the kids play.

In effort to incorporate the girls into everything I do during my time with them, Adalyn and Aniston joined me in mixing up some mini muffins. I even let the girls come downstairs before getting dressed, brushing their teeth and hair! Huge accomplishment for me. Sometimes, we do need to just kick back and relax.

I have made significant progress in keeping my iPhone at bay and will continue to work on reducing my use. Instead, I’ve been saving my Instagram photos until nap time. I also decided to take some time to compare some old family photos to see just how much Ani and I look alike. What do you think?

I used one of my many gift cards in my wallet to purchase a food processor. Since it’s not a necessity, I’ve always put it off. I didn’t realize just how many gift cards I had in my wallet until I could barely close it the other day. I purchased a mini Cuisinart that won’t consume a lot of space in my kitchen cabinets and will find a lot of use. It made the oatmeal cookie crust for crack pie so much faster and easier.
In hopes of reducing our electric bill and footprint, I am striving to turn off lights as we leave the room. Honestly, I’m not sure when I allowed myself to become so lax with this, because I can still hear my mother reminding me.
And finally, this morning when I was dressing Isla in a bumble bee outfit that Adalyn once wore, it sparked a little singing and dancing in the living room. I found myself relaxed and having fun rather than rushing the girls out the door to “school” {parent’s day out & preschool}. It was the best 3 minutes spent today by far! Let’s just say that she was not as impressed.
