With three little ones, I need a little place to relax and escape and enjoy a few minutes to myself. It was just the motivation I needed to finish our master bathroom with a mini-makeover. First, a couple of before photos…
I started it like most projects, cleaning out the cabinets and drawers freeing them of things we don’t use. We painted the walls in a medium shade of grey and trim in bright white to make the space feel fresh and clean.
We replaced the faucets with polished nickel faucets with a little curvature, to give them a slightly upscale feel. Hardware knobs were replaced to match.
I replaced the basic mirror with a large framed mirror, which gave the space a more formal aesthetic.
To maintain a clean, relaxing spa like feel, I kept clutter to a minimum, selecting just a few accessories.
Chris gave me this beautiful piece of driftwood shortly after we married in 2007.
He found it alongside a river during his month spent in Arizona. I use it as a place to keep my rings.
Flowers and candles always create a relaxing environment. In the main area, I included a plant.
Fresh flowers and a pencil sketch Chris created replicating a favorite piece of art were added to the shower area.
Contest rules: Must live in the US and be at least 18 years old.

Hi there Julie, love the grays in the master bathroom. I was wondering if you could share what color you used for the bathroom cabinetry for the vanity?
Thank you!
Benjamin Moore White Dove Enjoy!
Hmm is anyone else experiencing problems with
the images on this blog loading? I’m trying to determine if its a
problem on my end or if it’s the blog. Any feed-back would
be greatly appreciated.
Oh no! I hope not! Did you try a different browser?
This is the exact colour I had in mind for my bedroom! What colour and brand is it?

Thanks Jen! Helps me maintain a little sanity.
Love your bathroom! So clean and pretty. I also like to keep decor to a minimum and don’t like clutter.

Do you have a breakdown of cost for this makeover? Also do you have any pictures of the towel area? (Do you use hooks or shelves). Do you have any advice for under sink storage to keep the counters clean and looking like a resort.
Faucets were $40, knobs $2/each, both at Lowe’s. The mirror was $40 from Home Goods and the soap dispenser $10 from Target. I will post organization tips and photos along with te towels soon. We have a towel hook on one side and bar on the other. Clean towels are stored in the cabinets. Enjoy!
Your bath looks great. Love the white accents, so clean & spa-ish! I love to read in the bath to relax after work. Our house rule is if Moms in the tub, quiet!!!! Its my escape.

Thank you all for entering! The winner is #9, Danielle Doerr. Congratulations!
I like to relax by deep cleaning something. Sounds weird, but when I complete an organization task or deep cleaning I feel much more relaxed and at ease. But a nice long hot shower is very much relaxing as well. It would be even better with that robe to come out to as well. P.S. I love the bathroom make over but that piece of driftwood is to die for.

Well i always suggest White, Brown with a little bit black tone touch are standard colors for anay bathroom.
I love a nice hot bath and a book to relax. I always add epson salt, baking soda and lavender essential oil to the water to help draw out toxins, lower stress-related hormones, and balance my pH levels. I found the bath idea on Pinterest and it works wonders!
Using my clarisonic to really clean my face. Applying yummy moisturizers. After letting those absorb into my face and neck, I enjoy playing with makeup.
Pampering myself or to really indulge and relax, go get a massage 🙂
To relax I like to straighten and/or clean an area, then sit there and enjoy the benefits of all my hard work!

i love to lay out in the sun with some fresh iced tea to relax!
I like to get my hair done, have wine with a bubble bath.
I love curling up next to my husband and baby girl to watch a movie. It’s usually Tinkerbelle on repeat 😉 but I don’t mind! Or running a nice bubble bath and a glass of wine!
Your remodel looks fantastic! Love the crisp and clean look it has! 🙂

I like to read and get pedicures to relax. Even better if I can do both at the same time.
I love indulging in a Rachel Ray magazine while eating some dark chocolate!

To me, relaxing is sitting with a cup of good coffee {a vanilla latte would be my 1st pick :)} and watching a movie or just sitting with my husband and talking and dreaming about our future. 🙂
I sip some herbal tea, lather on some calming scented lotion, find a big comfy blanket to snuggle up in, and indulge myself in a book or magazine. Reading instantly relaxes me. Love the bathroom color you chose. It’s very similar to the one we used in our master bathroom. [email protected]
Relaxing to me is looking through Pottery Barn catalogs, Country Living magazines, Pinterest, and my favorite blogs and planning and daydreaming about my next remodeling, redecorating, or reorganizing project. [email protected] 🙂
I llisten to music. I may be sitting on my deck with my husband, going for a walk or run, getting ready for work, driving to work or having dance party in the kitchen with my kiddos. Music can change my mood instantly. I recently tried Bikram Yoga and found that super relaxing!! But shopping is a sure thing too.
I love what you’ve done with your master bath. Your entire home is a dream Julie.
The before photos are from before we moved in. I just replaced my white set of towels with “iron” colored towels (medium grey).
What color towels did you go with?
Very cute – what color towels do you have? Did you keep those?
Reading seems to be my escape lately. I usually read at night before I go to sleep, but sometimes I’ll read for an hour or more. It’s such a great escape and keeps my mind off everything! Thanks for sharing your home with us! [email protected]
