My friend Jamey and I were sharing our winter woes when the topic of dry lips came up. Both Ani {my middle} and I suffer from really dry lips.

I told her we’ve been using Aquaphor and Fresh Lip Advanced Treatment, which has made them better, but not returned them to their original, summer bliss state. She suggested an exfoliator.

It’s been years since I’ve exfoliated my lips and an important step I’ve been missing. I exfoliate the rest of my skin, why not give my lips the same luxury {but very necessary} treatment?

Lip Scrub Recipe

After looking online and finding they were all $25 and up, I resorted to a few of my favorite kitchen ingredients and a homemade bath recipe book from 15+ years ago that I often refer to. With a few tweaks I came up with a lip scrub recipe that polishes and nourishes for a perfectly soft pout – in winter!

This lip scrub can be stored in an airtight container for three weeks and used daily, if needed. You may want to because it leaves your lips feeling so soft!

Shopping List

  • Coconut Oil
  • Granulated Sugar
  • Honey

I’ve found using a lip scrub also helps prevent Ani from licking her lips – the vicious cycle…she licks, they become chapped, then she feels the need to lick them again.

I hope you enjoy this recipe as much as we do! You can find my sweet rose lip scrub recipe here for a completely different “flavor”…it’s simple and sweet, perfect for gifting.
