  • ham & havarti melts - a last minute 10 minute dinner favorite
    When living in Columbia, Missouri, my husband and I loved dining at a casual little cafe, nestled in a gym.  Their food was simple, but inspired.  Now closed, I wanted to recreate the taste of the sandwich that had become a favorite of mine. These ham & havarti melts are a great last minute dinner.
    Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Slice a pretzel bun in half, layering the bottom of a 9×13 pan with the bottoms
    Add a thin layer of mayo.  I prefer light olive oil mayo
    Add a thin slice of apple or two
    Add a slice of havarti cheese
    Add ham
    Place the top of the roll on the top of the sandwiches
    In a bowl, melt 4 tbsp butter.  Add 1 heaping teaspoon of a good dijon mustard, 1 tsp worchestire sauce, a tsp onion and stir.  Generously top the sandwiches with the sauce.  {sauce serves 4}
    Lightly cover with aluminum foil and bake 12 minutes.
    Even when served cold, these sandwiches will impress your guests.  They’re great for an party on the patio or dinner for 4.
    Enjoy!
