  • Chris and I spent our second morning of vacation waking at 5:30 am and viewing the valley on a hot air balloon.  After a champagne brunch, we visited Robert Mondavi for a tour and tasting.  It was as interesting and educational as we heard it would be.
Do you know why those wine barrels have stripes?  Red wines leak from the barrels and streak.  Once again we are reminded that little touches make a big impact!
We visited Oakville Grocery for two of our to go lunches.  It was tasty and the store was so adorable!  The best cookies, amazing ham and brie, what more could a girl ask for?  Wine?  Oh yes, there was wine all week long.

Coke in bottle, pickles in a jar, an olive bar…this place had it all!
We visited several wineries on day 2 {we had a false sense of energy}, but Hess was our favorite of the day.  We enjoyed the drive there, the art gallery and beautiful grounds.  Beyond the stone walls you could see the barrels containing aging wine.
They had several pieces of unique art which we enjoyed, but Surface Tension was our favorite.  It is hard to believe something so beautiful was constructed merely of thorns.  No glue, tape, tack, hardware connecting it to the walls, ceiling or floor.
That concludes the best of Napa!  Our travels continued to Sonoma Valley…
