Oh spring, you inspire me! It is the season where I slowly reintroduce color into our home – usually through organic elements. I enjoy keeping a neutral home, filled with neutral everyday accents that I can build from. It seems effortless & feels breezy to me. Rather than filling our home with lots of “stuff” & the latest trends, I’d rather have a few well-selected things that serve multiple purposes.
Looking at everyday things in your home with a fresh perspective allows you to rethink them, beyond their typical use. In addition to serving dinner on these basic white plates, I can also treat them like a vase, creating a citrus centerpiece in less than 10 minutes! It’s easy & convenient.
To create your own citrus centerpiece you’ll need:
oranges
lemons
fresh sage
plate
plant {begonia}
The recipe:
- Place your plate in the center of your table or desired location – it’s not easily moved, we’re working with fruit!
Add your first piece of citrus.
- Alternate citrus to fill in your plate, being careful not to overcrowd.
- Add a second layer of citrus, allowing them to fall naturally.
- Tuck in sage leaves under openings at the base of the plate. I alternated 1 leaf, then 2 leaves, & so on. Add just 3 leaves between the first & second layer, tucking them in between citrus.
- Snip your larges bloom off of your plant & tuck it into the top of your centerpiece.
- Continue adding blooms {1-2 at a time} working in a circle to ensure a beautiful centerpiece from all angles. I like to add a bloom by leaves for a soft, natural effect.
You did it! It’s so easy, inexpensive, & when the party is over, you can repurpose those sweet oranges by making orange rolls! For more inspiration from some of my favorite bloggers, visit the Live Better Network on Instagram!
Are you ready for some vitamin D?

So sweet simple and pretty!
Thank you, Jenna!
What a sweet and simple idea! Love it!
Thank you! Have a beautiful weekend!
Oh that is so cute! I would love to add a new rug with fun colors for spring! I really need more color in my kitchen!
I love to freshen my home by opening up all the windows and then mopping the floor (we have wood floors) with a little eucalyptus oil in the water…..so fresh and clean smelling. I love boiling a little citrus skin and cloves on the stove for a little fresh scent also sometimes.
I refresh my home with bright colored accent pieces and fresh flowers.
Spring is about freshness and nothing says it more than fresh citrus fruit displayed so beautifully. Love this idea, Julie!
