Chicago Inspirations

  • A couple weeks ago, my husband and I escaped for a few days in Chicago for our baby moon.  Since I last visited in August 2010, a few new places opened that were full of inspiration.
I first stumbled across All Saints Spitalfields.  The soft color palette, collection of antique sewing machines, beautiful leathers and fixtures were perfection!  I’ll be pinning this as possible living room inspiration for our home.  Old machinery served as furniture, lots of set lighting, etc…there wasn’t an element that I didn’t love!

Chicago is now home to one of the magnificent Magnolia Bakeries.  True to it’s signature style, it’s full of galvanized fixtures, chalkboards, carrera marble and metal chairs.  This photograph doesn’t do it justice, but it was too busy to personally photograph.

My husband and I stayed at the Swissotel and enjoyed the spectacular views our suite offered.  Below are a couple of photographs from our room.
One of the highlights of our trip was dining at local Volare.  The Pappardelle alla Bolognese was to die for!  I cannot resist purchasing the pasta roller attachment any longer…I must be able to make pappardelle this winter!  If you are in the area, it’s a must dine!
We also dined at Wildberry, which opened just days earlier.  Their breakfast menu was inspired offering Caramel Apple Pecan French Toast {which I indulged in}, Oreo S’mores Pancakes, Tiramisu Pancakes and more!  I look forward to my personal attempts at recreating these intriguing combinations for our Saturday morning breakfasts.
Well, the baby moon is over.  I’m back, moved and blogging!  I look forward to sharing our home renovations and projects with you soon!
