Grilled Cheese with Bacon Jam Recipe

When hosting a large group of guests, I like keeping the meal as simple and stress free as possible. For Adalyn and Aniston’s joint birthday party, I made grilled cheese with bacon jam and easy tomato soup. Grilled cheese is simple, so you need to be selective on ingredients. I always use shredded cheese {preferably fresh that I shred myself} to ease the melting, and a great bread. For this grilled cheese, I used a shredded swiss and gruyere mix and baguettes. Gruyere melts really well. Bacon jam, which can be made or purchased at specialty stores, enhances a grilled cheese, among other things. For a list of my favorite uses for bacon jam, see below.

Ingredients:
great shredded cheese
good bread/baguette, sliced
bowl of butter, melted
bacon jam

Slice baguette/bread and dip each piece in melted butter {quicker and more absorbent than using a basting brush, and hey, who doesn’t like butter?} and make a layer on cookie sheets. Add the bacon jam. Top with shredded cheese, then add another slice of baguette dipped in butter to the top. Broil 4-5 minutes, watching closely.
